The number one reason that dogs are relinquished to shelters and euthanized daily is "behavior problems", not "infectious disease" for dogs under three years of age.
It has long been understood by behaviorists, trainers, vet techs, veterinarians and shelter staff that early training and group Puppy Sessions help create a well adjusted dog.
To this end the current recomendation of The American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior &The American Veterinary Medical Association is to start puppies in group puppy sessions as young as 8 weeks of age.
Note that the training must take place in an indoor sterilized training ring. Also note that the 1st shot in the puppy vaccination series, must have been given seven days prior to attending a puppy session making puppies ready for class by 7-8 weeks of age.
